A Waikoloa Wedding: Congrats, Shane + Jordyn!

I’ve only been to one wedding in my adult life — and it was my cousin’s. But this weekend…the first of our friends got married! It was definitely a weekend of celebration to say the least…

Jake was the best man at Shane and Jordyn’s wedding in Waikoloa (and later gave a great speech — funny yet sentimental). Even though it was a cloudy day on the west side of the Big Island, where it’s normally sunny, the sunset still managed to peak out as the ceremony started.

Remember how Katherine Heigl’s character in 27 Dresses says her favorite part of weddings is seeing the look on the groom’s face when he sees his bride walking down the aisle?

That’s my favorite part too. The bride walk is the most anticipated part of any wedding. You can just tell by everyone’s faces that she’s about to walk into the frame — it’s what I love about this picture.

The pastor stood in front of the bride and groom throughout the whole ceremony — which was strange to me, but the wedding itself was beautiful. And even though I couldn’t hear the vows, I saw several people wipe away tears.

I’m not gonna lie, I almost found myself in tears. Weddings just kind of have that effect on me.

After the ceremony, we moved inside to the reception area to eat, give speeches, and watch the bride and groom have their first dance.

The members of the wedding party were next to escort their significant others to the dance floor, and as Jake took my hand — I can’t even describe to you how wonderful it is to be with someone you love at a wedding. (Don’t get any ideas, we’re not getting married anytime soon.)

The night ended in dance — more specifically by doing the cat daddy.

It’s so beautiful to see people come together in celebration of love and friendship. And it’s not only through the bride and groom that you can see that at a wedding — it’s through the friends and family who’ve shown up to show their support, it’s through the camaraderie between those in the wedding party…

It was simply a joy to see, and was a truly beautiful weekend. Best wishes to the happy couple!
