Month in Review: Top 3 June Posts

An adorable minion-themed party for my birthday -- thanks to my family.

An adorable minion-themed party for my birthday — thanks to my family.

I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize for the lack of posts these past few weeks. I feel like I say this every month, but June has been the busiest month yet — and July shows no signs of being any different. One of the exciting things? I’m going to Las Vegas!

While that’s just one of the great things happening next month, I can’t turn my back on how much love I received in June. Jake and I celebrated our second year anniversary at Brasserie Du Vin — a French restaurant downtown, and it was one of the best dinner dates we’ve ever had.

My family threw me the most adorable minion-themed birthday party, where they presented me with my GoPro. And my amazing friends set up my first surprise party ever — taking me to dinner, then bar and club hopping. If you remember, I got the worst hangover I’ve had in a while.

So amongst all the celebration, here are your top posts of June:

3) Recipe: Strawberry Cheesecake Cupcakes

This is one of my favorite posts I’ve done in a while. It’s not just any recipe post — it’s the story of a dear friend and co-worker who’s about to face the fight of her life as she takes on her diagnosis of Stage 3 Breast Cancer. We had a bake sale to help her fundraise — and the amount of love and support everyone showed was truly touching.

2) Recipe: Baked Sweet Potato Chips

I got a mandolin in June. That means many, many more recipes using it to come. It’s a whole series — so look out. What I’ve noticed is I’m eating more vegetables thanks to the ease of a tool that helps me slice them up evenly and quickly. Now I can slice, dice, and julienne with the best of them.

This is my recipe for a healthy snack — easy to take with you to work, or just to have while you watch TV. Click through to start snacking guilt free!

1) Review: BREW’d Craft Pub

You know me and beer — we’ve got a loving relationship. This is just one of the latest places Jake and I checked out this month. We’re always looking for the next Craft Beer spot on the scene — especially in Honolulu where it seems to be growing pretty fast. This joint’s in Kaimuki, and did not disappoint! For all you locals, BREW’d is brought to you by the same owners as REAL a Gastropub!

On another note, June also brought a schedule change to my work life — and now I’m on the nightshift doing recruit to view. I’m getting used to the schedule change, which may best explain the lack of posts.

My goal for July: Bringing a consistent stream of posts back to this blog!
